There’s one category of Boise home buyers that everyone has forgotten. We aren’t seeing it in the media yet, but the foreign investors are coming!
Homes in Boise Idaho aren’t growing in price as quickly as we saw in 2005, but they are holding their value!
Even though U.S. investors aren’t snatching up properties as quickly, foreign investors are watching our markets.
Think about it - the value of the dollar today (3/8/08) is worth 1.533 Euros. And, $1 US is worth 2.0128 British Pounds.
If someone from Europe buys a home in Boise for $200,000 US, their cost is really 130,437 Euros. (Thats over 34% less)
Also, someone using British Pounds would have a cost of 99,364 British Pounds (Over 50% less)
Low U.S. dollar value + strong Boise Idaho economy = increase in Idaho’s foreign investment.
Another thought - it not only foreign “investors” but people are relocating to retire in Idaho. After all, Boise Idaho is a great place to live!
